After mastering land and sea, Google Maps has set its sights on the indoors. Google today announced new indoor capabilities for Google Maps 6.0 for Android, allowing the software to guide users through airports, malls and more.
Indoor locations that are Google maps compatible today include the retail outlets Mall of America, IKEA, The Home Depot, select Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s; and the airports Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), San Francisco International Airport (SFO) among others. Expect that list to grow as indoor mapping takes off.
Unfortunately, there's no word yet on iOS compatibility.
