After customers have been coming out of the digital woodwork, complaining in blog posts and in forums that their iPhones have been experiencing woeful battery performance ever since the launch of iOS 5, Apple has confirmed in a statement that there are bugs in the software that could be causing the issue.

AllThingsD got the Cupertino company on the record.

“A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices,” the company said. “We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks.”

Some iPhone users have been resorting to a variety of tactics in desperate bids to prolong their battery life in the weeks since iOS 5 was released, including disabling notifications, location services and even Siri. Hopefully, whatever fix Apple comes up with will put an end to the trouble.
