No Free Battlefield 1943 For you!!!

Yeah, about that free bonus that PS3 owners were expecting with Battlefield 3: not happening.

None

Remember way back when the console versions of Battlefield 3 were announced? EA and Sony made an attempt to sweeten the PS3-pot by stating that gamers who purchased the PS3 version of the game would be receiving a free copy of the downloadable Battlefield 1943 on the PlayStation Network.

Yeah, well, about that. It isn’t happening.

It looks like the joke is on us gamers as EA has announced that they have decided that offering the DLC content a week early on the PlayStation platform is more than enough of a bonus for you to have. In response to an inquiry on Twitter as to where the codes to redeem the free version of Battlefield 3 were by an curious gamer, the official Battlefield Twitter account replied

“In lieu of 1943 being available on disk for PS3 customers, EA has made all BF3 expansions available early to PS3 customers.”

What the hell?!?! That was a pretty decent bonus being offered to players and many gamers likely chose the PS3 version of the game over the 360 as a result and now that are being completely screwed. It is all well and good that second thoughts were had on the promotion, but let’s notify the public BEFORE the game launches into retail, not after.

What do you think? Sounds like a case of bait and switch to us. something tells us that this issue is far from over.
