While perusing the show floor, I got to check out some nifty headsets from Turtle Beach, and man oh man, are they amazing. I’m not normally into headsets for games—the speakers will do just fine, usually—but these headsets were astounding.
The machine gun blasts in CoD had a sharp, movie quality ratatata sound to them, and the shouts and calls of the enemies could be heard both far and near perfectly. This created a sense of distance and proximity awareness that I never really sensed before in a first person shooter. It was almost kind of eerie, really. It was super-immersive. I guess I would have to get used to it.
There are going to be limited edition Modern Warfare 3 headsets coming soon, so look out for those. Their headsets are the shit.
