Director Spike Lee, who is currently hard at work shooting his next film Red Hook Summer, now has a cast to go along with his tentative release date. Not much is known about the movie, but BlackFilm has learned that the secretive project will include Nate Parker (Red Tails, The Great Debaters), Clarke Peters (Treme, The Wire) and Heather Simms. The story centers on an adult from Atlanta who comes up north to spend the summer in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, New York City.

Lee will be reprising his role as cult-favorite Mookie from his pivotal 1989 flick Do The Right Thing. While there's no word on exactly what the new role player's characters are, Red Hook Summer will also feature Limary Agosto, Kalon Jackson, Turron Kofi Alleyne, and Samantha Ivers

We'll keep an eye out as the next "Spike Lee Joint" looks to burn up the summer in 2012.
