Parappa the Rapper was ahead of its time.  It was one of the first rhythm games before the Guitar Hero and Rock Band craze popularized the genre.  It had quirky imaginative characters like Chop Chop Master Onion and catchy tunes with unforgettable lyrics: "Kick, Punch, It's all in the mind!"  Unfortunately, we haven't seen the funky musician since 2002 when Parappa the Rapper 2 landed on the PS2, but there is a spark of hope.  Joystiq spoke to series creator, Masaya Matsuura, who said that he thinks rhythm games are better suited for handheld platforms because there is reduced latency between the controller and the built-in display.  The PlayStation Vita offers a "good chance" for him to make another sequel.  If this happens, we'll be the first in line for the PS Vita singing "In the rain or in the snow.  Got the funky funky flow!"
