Gears of War 3 launched on the Xbox 360 just over a week ago and the game has already sold more than 3 million copies. 3 MILLION COPIES! That puts the game squarely into the position of 2011‘s top selling game thus far, and rightfully so as we absolutely loved the game.
Not only has the latest entry in the series been kicking retail ass, but the series as a whole has because the latest release has pushed all of the Gears games over the $1 billion mark for total sale. Yes, that is billion with a “B”.
Let’s be perfectly honest, do you think that Epic is going to bail on the series just because the Marcus Fenix saga has been concluded? Absolutely not, especially when the games are putting up numbers like that. These are massive numbers that developers and publishers dream about but few ever truly achieve. Congrats to everyone involved in the Gears of War series at both Epic and Microsoft, especially Tina’s good buddy Cliffy B.
We cannot wait to see what the franchise has in store for us next.
