Banking On: $700,000 per episode
Worth the Investment? Yes
Complex Says: Does anyone really deserve $700,000 to film a single episode of a show? $700k is a big chunk of change to take home as a yearly salary, let alone a day’s (or few days’) work. However, if anyone is worthy of this nasty lump sum, it’s Hugh Laurie, who kills it as House (the show’s title character), an equally brilliant and dickish diagnostician working at a teaching hospital.
Despite his antisocial exterior (dude’s become reasonably hardened by death), he lets a choice few get beneath the surface, affording viewers the opportunity to see some of Laurie’s finest acting. Add a masterful portrayal of painkiller addiction on top of that and it’s no shocker that the actor has been honored with five Emmy nods.
