Hollywood stars who are between films often take jobs starring in foreign commercials-- the spots don't impact their profile in America, are short term and pay handsomely. Think Bill Murray in Lost in Translation, or, for a real life example, Leonardo DiCaprio in "Find Me."
The above series of shorts, which DiCaprio shot for the Chinese cell phone-maker Oppo, don't make much narrative sense, but feature lots of cinematic shots of the leading man brooding and chasing after a beautiful, if nondescript, French woman. Leo reportedly took home $5 million for his trouble.
