HBO sure loves to run some pretty interesting documentaries. The cable network's latest premiere is about real life people who are training themselves as superheroes. Yes, crime-fighting vigilantes who dress up like Kick Ass.

Straight out of the funny pages, the appropriately named Superheroes profiles self-appointed public defenders from all parts of the globe. From San Diego's Mr. Xtreme; Vancouver, British Columbia crime-fighter Thanatos; Master Legend of Orlando, Florida; and Lucid, who's featured in the above clip practicing his bow-and-arrow skills on the roof of a Brooklyn apartment building.

Directed by first-timer Michael Barnett, Superheroes debuts on August 8 at 9pm/8pm Central on HBO.
