Marijuana Genome Sequenced, Now Scientifically Important

Grass now more easily modified.

Medicinal Genomics is a company whose sole focus is study of weed. Its logo also includes a weed leaf. And, not shockingly enough, it’s based in weed capital, The Netherlands.

Recently, Med Gen contributed the genetic sequencing of cannabissativa to society. In identifying the genetics of weed in its raw state, scientists will soon be able to isolate genes, allowing them control over the production and concentrations of compounds such as THC. In other words, Big Pharma will be able to genetically modify the drug and make it FDA-ready if legalization really takes hold. Think less high, more healing properties. Superweed it probably won’t be—but that’s the way government regulation goes.
