Boardwalk Empire creator Terrence Winter didn't want to populate his new show with too many performers from his old show, The Sopranos, but it looks like that has been tabled for the moment. TVGuide reports that Empire has cast former Sopranos star Dominic Chianese in a recurring capacity for the new season.

The 80-year-old Chianese, who played Uncle Junior on the show, will appear in six of the 12 season two episodes as Leander Whitlock, a "contemporary" of the Commodore (played by Dabney Coleman).
