The Hollywood Reporter has dropped word that Trey Songz will make his official acting debut in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, which is said to be a direct sequel to director Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror classic. Trey, cast as the male lead, is set to play the boyfriend of the flick's heroine, (hottie actress Alexandra Daddrio).

The latest revival of Hooper's genre mainstay will be directed by John Luessenhop (Takers). So, to recap... An R&B heartthrob and the guy behind T.I. and Chris Brown's mediocre heist film teaming up to re-imagine a horror staple? Gorehounds must be stoked!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D is scheduled for an October 5, 2012 release.
