The first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man has been leaked ahead of its official world debut at this week's San Diego Comic-Con. Despite the bootleg quality, the video earns the distinction of being a superhero Twilight, for showcasing darker elements than in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy.
The clip opens with us seeing a young Peter Parker abandoned by his parents before it transitions to a nerdy, teenage Peter, played by Andrew Garfield. You see glimpses of Aunt May (Sally Field), Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen), the web-slinger's new love interest Gwen Stacy (a blonde-haired Emma Stone), and Dr. Curt Conners (Rhys Ifans). The Lizard isn't revealed yet in this preview, though.
The rest of the trailer impressively captures Peter Parker in first-person perspective, showing off his new super powers after he is bitten by a radioactive spider. Directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer), The Amazing Spider-Man will swing into theaters nationwide in 3-D on July 3, 2012.
