This deeply felt human drama known as Pariah is the brain-child of writer-director Dee Rees. A huge success at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, the film stars Adepero Oduye as Alike (pronounced "ah-lee-kay"), a 17-year-old Brooklynite who juggles conflicting sexual identities.

Risking friendship, heartbreak, and her family in a desperate search to define her sexual expression, Alike takes the traditional coming-of-age story and tells it from a perspective never seen before on the big screen. Pariah features Pernell Walker as her best friend, Sahra Mellesse as her younger sister, and Charles Parnell (Fringe) and Kim Wayans (In Living Color) play her parents.

This film has no scheduled release date, but keep an eye out for it to be distributed independently sometime this year.
