The rumored 2011 MacBook Air update is fast approaching (week of July 21) and will reportedly bringing along with it high-speed Thunderbolt ports, Intel's Sandy Bridge architecture, and faster memory. However, according to Apple Insider, the newest generation of Apple's ultra-portable will also sport a backlit keyboard.
MacBook Airs haven't had a backlit keyboard since the first generation, with Apple doing away with them in the most recent update to reportedly save space and manage heating. A decision that upset a good number of potential MBA buyers. All of Apple's MacBook Pros have a backlit keyboard.
