Meta-happy irony has gotten so popular that it’s almost an expected internet trope at this point. Which almost makes this story un-ironic. Almost. A brief summation of events:
Anonymous, a group of hackers (though they fancy themselves as “journalists”), gets booted off of Google+ and restricted from their Gmail account for a violation of “community standards.”
In response, said group of hackers vows to create AnonPlus (umm, perhaps they meant “journalists” in the sense that Jayson Blair was a journalist?), a social network for hackers and non-hackers, touted as completely unrestricted and anti-censorship.
AnonPlus is hacked by the presumably Turkish group of hackers “TURKIYE,” whom the alleged leader of the Anon. group dismisses as “ignorant and OUT OF CONTROL.”
In the most recent update, the hack-of-the-hackers seems to be politically motivated: a ploy in revenge for attacks made by the Anonymous’ group on Turkish government website.
(DRAMATIC MUSIC) OR IS ANONYMOUS REALLY THE TURKISH GOVERNMENT ALL ALONG, MAKING IT A COMMENTARY ON THE MIDDLE-EAST? Seriously, life writes itself better than any one author on most days.
