To make it easier for users to share links via social networks so others can find their way to Google's plethora of online services, the search giant has purchased the g.co domain to use as its official shortened URL. Google's URL shortener, goo.gl, will still shorten any links you put into it, but from now on, Google will use the g.co domain when shortening any URL for its official properties.
