A few weeks ago we unveiled Robin’s new buff look for the upcoming game, Batman: Arkham City.  We now have a new concept image, and while he’s still sporting his usual red, green and yellow, they’re muted and shadowed. He’s more mysterious, brooding, and all-around emo than ever before, and his cape now has a hood…a Robin hood if you will. RIMSHOT!  Arkham City’s senior concept artist Kan Muftic has the follow to say about Robin’s new image:

"We wanted to create a Robin that players wouldidentify as a contemporary character and move away from the traditional 'BoyWonder' image that most people know. Our vision of Robin is the one of atroubled young individual that is calm and introverted at times but verydangerous and aggressive if provoked. The shaved head is inspired by cagefighters, because we thought that Robin might be doing that in his spare timeto keep him on his toes. Still, we kept all the classic trademarks of Robin’sappearance, such as the red and yellow colors of his outfit, the cape and themask. We really hope that people will discover our Robin as one of their newfavorite characters in the Batman universe. He is back and he meansbusiness."

It’s about time that Robin steps out from behind Batman’s shadow and kicks some ass on his own. Keep your fingers crossed for a third game featuring the dynamic duo in full co-op mode! [via G4TV]
