During the Nintendo press conference at E3 this month, Satoru Iwata announced that a new Super Smash Bros. was being developed for both the 3DS and the Wii U console.  Apparently, work on the game hasn’t even begun yet.  A translated interview with series creator, Masahiro Sakurai, reveals this depressing news by stating that his studio, Project Sora, is solely focused on Kid Icarus: Uprising

"We've got no plans whatsoever -- we've got two newgames out in the open when there's no extra time to work with them at all. Itmakes me cringe, and I'm not sure it's the smartest thing to make gamers waitfor several years, but the early announcement was made chiefly in order toattract new team members."

Years?  Holy premature announcement, Batman! [via Giant Bomb]
