Live Show Alert: Yeasayer in Detroit Monday (6/6)

Thwarting genre with buzzing noises, acid, and glowsticks.

None

Brooklyn’s Yeasayer turned a lot of ears about a year ago when they dropped Old Blood, an album of haunted electronic pop. After a reportedly life-changing acid trip in New Zealand, the band moved closer toward a highly processed sound, which was captured on Old Blood by a producer familiar with the technique of treating guitars like synths and burying vocals in effects, former Peter Gabriel drummer Jerry Marotta. The band has been touring the U.S. recently, leading to speculation that a new record is in the works. Their live show is something to be seen, so break out the tie-dye and the glowsticks.—Finn Cohen
