Comcast and Skype have announced a joint experiment to bring video conferencing to your HD TV via a new cable system. The two companies plan to produce a special "adaptor box" and remote control that will allow Comcast Xfinity customers to "Make and receive Skype video and audio calls, or send instant messages via Skype on a television while watching their favorite TV show at the same time, and accept incoming calls during a TV show with the help of Caller ID." The service will also be integrated into the Xfinity mobile app.

Details such as how much a Skype box will cost and when it will be availble aren't clear yet, but expect to hear more about the service at tomorrow's big cable conference, The Cable Show.
