Video games have been borrowing from your high school grammar exams for years. (Check that—decades.) You couldn’t traverse The Oregon Trail on PC without making heavy use of your Commodore 64’s number keys to answer multiple-choice questions about everything from cholera to opium to your favorite whiskey. Now we do the same thing with a thumbstick and an A button in Mass Effect. The only difference? You make calls for a galaxy, not five Conestoga wagons.
