Bill Callahan

Stepping out of Austin, Texas, and into center stage, Bill Callahan tours this summer because he has an album out. It’s called Apocalypse and it’s fantastic. We say he tours because of the album because Callahan gives the distinct impression that if it weren’t for an explicit reason like that he wouldn’t willingly put himself in the public eye. As far as singer/songwriters go, Callahan is a rare breed. He avoids melodrama and self-flagellation, opting instead for a tight smile and more than a little fondness for the deadpan. His lyrics are no less affecting for it.
