YouTube was launched six years ago today in 2005, and the leading video hosting site has since crossed some pretty massive milestones. Just over the last weekend, YouTube crossed the threshold of 3 billion views per month, the company announced on its blog. That is a lot of cat videos.
In addition to the enormous viewing numbers, YouTube says its getting a ton of videos uploaded to the site each day; 48 hours worth per minute, in fact.
