EXHIBIT: Heroines
WHERE:  Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid
WHEN: Until June 5, 2011

While women have been depicted all sorts of ways via the fine art, this exhibition focuses on female subjects who were powerful, strong, and independent. While the works span a range of styles, materials, and time periods, they are united by their unique feminist themes. The painters whose works are on display include Jules Breton, Peter Paul Rubens, and Edgar Degas.  (That many of these paintings were done by men opens this talk of feminism into an entirely different place, though.)
