Bad news: Marisa Tomei will not be starring in Aaron Sorkin's HBO pilot about life in the cable news world, More As This Story Develops. Good news: Emily Mortimer might!
The lovely Mortimer (who has been seen before in Lovely And Amazing and Shutter Island) is in serious talks to play MacKenzie, the cable news show's executive producer, and former girlfriend of its host (played by Jeff Daniels).
Deadline reports that Tomei ultimately wasn't interested in doing television, so producers moved on to Mortimer. Judging from her prior work (especially in Lovely And Amazing, where she bears her, er, soul), this could be a match made in walk-and-talk heaven.
