After expressing his intentions of placing the G.I. Joe sequel back in the trenches, director Jon Chu may continue to take the traditional route by shooting and releasing the film in 2D. Sounds like the Hasbro stan, who also directed the last two Step Up films, has learned a few important lessons on how not to end up like Captain Wack Sparrow.

Collider reports that the action sequel will shoot in tax-rebate heaven, more commonly known as New Orleans, and only Lee Byung-hun (Storm Shadow), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), and Channing Tatum (Duke) are listed as returning in some capacity from the first movie.

Since Joseph Gordon-Levitt has stepped down as Cobra Commander to focus on The Dark Knight Rises, expect plenty of casting news from Chu and company over the next few months.
