It's been over a year since Twisted Pictures, the company behind the Saw franchise, picked up the rights to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre after Platinum Dunes dropped them, and since then there haven't been many developments.

Until now, that is.

Bloody Disgusting got the exclusive word that John Luessenhopis talking with Lionsgate to direct Leatherface 3D, the latest installment in the horror series that last hit theaters with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning in 2006.

Luessenhop directed the 2010 action-thriller Takers starring Chris Brown, Clifford "T.I." Harris, Hayden Christensen, and Matt Dillon.

Stephen Susco, who wrote the 2004 remake of The Grudge, is one of the writers vying for the storytelling job, with fellow screenwriters Debra Sullivan and Adam Marcus (Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday) having also turned in drafts.
