Bruce Campbell Loves The Script For "The Evil Dead” Remake

Yet we're still pretty sure this one won't get made any time soon.

With the recent deluge of remakes that Hollywood has been pumping out, the mere mention of a new one can send chills up the spine of any self-respecting movie fanatic. But every once in a while, a remake comes along that's enjoyed by both new fans and fans of the original. And if Bruce Campbell is correct, the long-talked-about remake of the 1981 cult classic The Evil Dead might just be one of the better ones.

“NEWSFLASH: We are remaking Evil Dead. The script is awesome. I will be one of the producers and possibly play the milk man,” Campbell announced in an interview with Reddit.

But while the star gushed about the script, he didn’t seem optimistic that the movie will be in theaters any time soon, “In all honesty, we would all love to make another Evil Dead movie. When that will happen? Who can say - we’re all working on other jobs right now. We’re not trying to dodge anybody’s questions, there just isn’t that much to talk about. The remake’s gonna kick ass—you have my word.”

Would an Evil Dead movie without Campbell as horror hero-icon Ash really be worth seeing? Would Hollywood do something crazy like give the new Ash a CGI super-chin to make up for Campbell’s absence? Perhaps. But Bruce Campbell’s ringing endorsement of the script is still a great sign, even if it's just a tease.
