Using Your Favorite Device Before Bed Could be Bad For Your Sleep

Texting, checking emails or watching Netflix before bed? You could lose sleep over it.

None

Bad news for those of us who sleep with our smartphones and/or laptops: Curling up with your favorite gadget before bed may diminish the quality of your sleep.

According to a new study from the awesome-sounding National Sleep Foundation, 95 percent of people use some form of electronics in the hour before bed, and of that group, two thirds reported not getting enough sleep. Apparently, exposure to that addicting screen glow can put you on edge and inhibit the production of melatonin-- a hormone that encourages sleep.
