It looks like things have begun to finally get on track for The Farrelly Brothers' reboot of The Three Stooges, and their choice of Johnny Knoxville as Moe. Plenty of dream casts have been pitched, with the likes of Benicio del Toro, Jim Carrey and Sean Penn to Andy Samberg and Australian comic, Shane Jacobson playing the iconic Brothers Stooges. But while it seemed that Peter and Bobby Farrelly would finally get to shoot the darn thing, the ideas collapsed every time.

20th Century Fox is hoping to take a big step forward with Knoxville as a part of the project. Variety reports that no formal negotiations have kicked off yet, but you know that the Jackass star is definitely interested in bringing his brand of physical farce back to the big screen. If When Knoxville jumps aboard, the Farrellys can finally lock in the other two leads. The plan for the new Stooges film is to divide the thematic pie into three 27-minute chunks loaded with enough slapstick to channel the original trio's spirit.

With any luck, the film will be in production this April, and the whole gang can finally let out a fart sigh of relief.
