Starting tomorrow, the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival will momentarily change Austin's reputation as the Music Capitol of the World to Gourmet Food Capital of the World (just for the weekend though; Monday, everyone trades in their spatulas for guitars).

Events during this year's festival include educational panels on beef, butchery, liquor, wine, and beer. There are tastings for everything from sushi to cigars (technically not food, we know, but pair it with the right scotch and food suddenly becomes non-essential). The Live Fire! event sounds particularly exciting. An evening dedicated entirely to the pursuit of the perfect fire-cooked beef, Live Fire! features over 10 bbq experts. In other words, this will be a carnivore's dream.
