Microsoft Releases Internet Explorer 9

The most hated browser on the Net gets a makeover.

None

The world's most used (and most hated) web browser just got a complete overhaul.

Microsoft on Monday announced the availability of its all-new Internet Explorer 9 web browser at a launch event at SXSW

The IE update brings along with it many new features, and some features that have already been seen in competing browsers. Such features will include hardware-accelerated HTML5 for faster processing of graphics, text, audio, and video.

Users will also be able to "pin" favorite websites to their taskbars so they can launch them like they would an application. Another heavily touted feature in IE 9 is the Tracking Protection which gives users better control over what info and data they share and exchange with certain websites.

Of the update, Microsoft's corporate VP of Windows Internet Explore, Dean Hachamovitch, said “The best experience of the Web is on Windows with Internet Explorer 9." While that's yet to be seen, this a much-welcomed update to the browser everyone loves to hate.
