Girl Walks into a Bar, a new movie from Sin City/Entourage actress Carla Gugino and her husband Sebastian Gutierrez, is out now and can be viewed right up there above this text. The feature-length movie, starring name actors like Gugino, Zachary Quinto, Rosario Dawson, Danny Devito and Josh Hartnett, is making its world premiere exclusively on YouTube.

Synopsis:

GIRL WALKS INTO A BAR connects a group of apparent strangers over one night across ten bars throughout Los Angeles. Zachary Quinto stars as a dentist who teams up with a feisty would-be assassin (Carla Gugino) to put the final touches on the plan to kill his wife. Once he makes a play for the assassin's payment, he unknowingly sets off a chain of events that fuels a crosstown journey through the many lounges, bars, strip clubs and the occasional nudist ping pong clubs scattered across Los Angeles. By turns funny and heartbreaking, this sharp-witted comedy features ten interconnected vignettes that build to a revealing finish.

Gutierrez claims that the film, available for free thanks to a Lexus sponsorship, is the first to be made "for the Internet." That sounds pretty dubious to us, but a feature film with this level of casting being released on YouTube is certainly remarkable. It also lines up perfectly with the incredibly popular site's newfoundaspirations of becoming more than just a host of short, homemade videos.

It'll be interesting to see if other studios follow suit, and if straight-to-YouTube becomes the new straight-to-DVD.
