If you think your hacking skills are on point, you should register for HP TippingPoint's Pwn2Own hacking competition. Held at the annual CanSecWest security conference, Pwn2Own challenges its contestants to exploit software—usually web browsers—for a chance to win the machine they used during the competition. For the winners, there's a total grand prize of $105,000. But this year, Google is adding a little extra incentive to participate.
For anyone who can compromise its Chrome Browser, Google will give an additional $20,000. Not only that, if you can crack Chrome using vulnerabilities in Google-wriiten code, the winner will also get a Google CR-49 Chrome OS netbook.
Of course, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Apple Safari will also be available for hacking on Sony Vaios, Alienware m11xs, and Apple MacBook Airs. And, like last year, competitors will have the option of hacking into mobile devices—Dell Venue Pro, iPhone 4, BlackBerry Torch, and a Nexus S. Crack those and you get $15,000 and the device.
