RSVP to attend this free advance screening of yet another entry in the 21st-century contest for most extreme Asian film. Kim Jee-woon’s I Saw the Devil is a cheery tale starring Choi Min-sik (remember him from Old Boy? He’s the one who eats the live octopus AND cuts off part of his own body) as a twisted psycho who murders a detective’s pregnant fiancee. Seeking revenge, the detective crosses moral, ethical, and legal boundaries, and goes swimming in a sea of blood. The film was originally banned in Korea after the first cut was released, so here you’re getting the “watered-down” version. Still, not for the squeamish. -Finn Cohen
