When it was announced that new iPhone 4 buyers on Verizon were going to be offered a $30-per-month unlimited plan, there was a heavy wave of cheers for the iPhone's new home and plenty of jeers against AT&T who stopped offering unlimited data plans last June. It sounded too good to be true.

Well, it turns out it was.

Speaking with the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, Verizon's chief operating officer, Lowell McAdam, confirmed that the country's second largest wireless company will indeed offer new Verizon iPhone 4 users a $30-per-month unlimited plan, but for a limited time only, saying that the change will occur in "the not too distant future."

So if you're trying to get in on the data free-for-all when the Verizon iPhone drops on February 10th, you better act quickly.
