Director Hayao Miyazaki, who won the 2002 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature with Spirited Away, cooks up that animated crack rock. OK, perhaps crack rock isn't the best way to describe kids movies, but his joints will blow your mind no matter what age you are, so crack rock it is. This week, you can cop special editions of two of his bangers. Ponyo (2008), which is like a Japanese version of The Little Mermaid, tells the story of cross-species love between a goldfish girl and a human boy, and the shit storm her desire to be human stirs up. In Miyazaki's 1988 classic, My Neighbor Totoro, two sisters meet a gigantic forest spirit who looks like a bunny rabbit, controls forces of nature, and protects the young girls while their mother's hospitalized and their father's away. Trippy, hand-drawn animation and adult themes about the delicate balance of humans and the environment make these flicks perfect for movie time with kids, or, if you're like us and double-bag, bong-rip cinema with the crew.

My Neighbor Totoro is available in a special, two-disc DVD edition, while Ponyo is available in a Blu-ray/DVD combo or on DVD —with a fucking plush Ponyo toy!!! Every version includes inspiration documentaries, all-new interviews with Miyazaki, and character/world exploration. Cooked. Coke. Crack.
