By March 2008, Guns N Roses' Chinese Democracy was almost 15 years in the making. Dr. Pepper issued the band a challenge: supply each of the 300 million citizens of the USA a free can of their soda if the album hit stores before the end of the year. Their bold strategy worked because it was finally released on November 23. Unfortunately, DP didn't exactly hold up to its end of the bargain. It's website was all but non-functioning on the release date when people when instructed to go there and redeem a free soda voucher.
