When Belly signed to Roc Nation last year, it was the latest in a series of major moves by the Canadian-Palestinian rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer. He might be best known as one of The Weeknd's close friends and frequent collaborators, but the last eight years have seen Belly build a formidable solo following of his own.
The latest release is Inzombia, a brooding, druggy mixtape with features from Jadakiss, Future, Nav, Young Thug, Zack, Ty Dolla Sign, and Ashanti. Even more impressive, however, is that Belly is planning to release another full-length album in the first half of 2017.
We caught up with the multi-talented artist in Los Angeles, where he explained the impact The Notorious B.I.G. had on him, how Jay Z won him over, and the story behind his late-night television Trump protest.
