Sinistarr’s an interesting character. He started his career out as a Michigan native who took his Detroit influences and embarked on a Drum & Bass journey, netting himself well-respected DnB institutions like Metalheadz, Creative Source, Hospital, Renegade Hardware and plenty more. Over the last year, his fondness for non-DnB tempos manifested itself in, what else, more non-Drum & Bass output. DJs like Om Unit, Chrissy Murderbot, Pinch and Mark Pritchard started flocking to (and blasting) his tunes, and he’s almost created a new lane for himself, putting out whatever other EDM styles he pleases, from Footwork to Techno.
Sinistarr’s got gigs lined up in Denver (at The Great American Techno Festival) and Seattle (Decibel Festival) this month, and sorted out a promo mix for heads who might be intrigued. The 54-minute trek features tracks from Azealia Banks, Africa Hitech, Om Unit, ASC and others, with remixes of Portishead and Mouse On Mars really shaking things up. Sinistarr even includes some of his own original material (including the title track from the recently-released Cetra EP) for good measure.
