For the last seven years, you can’t call it the end of a proper calendar year until LuckyMe kicks off their Advent Calendar series of free tracks. For 2015, instead of doing a full month of freebies during the month of December, the team has sorted out “a 12 track compilation of rarities, alternate versions, and brand new exclusives that span the sound of the LuckyMe family.” The first is from the mighty Hudson Mohawke.

Instead of churning out a pulsating banger, HudMo turns things down a bit on “Escape,” which is his intriguing cover of the theme from John Carpenter’s Escape From New York. That main theme is already early-’80s synth’d out af, and HudMo graciously keeps those qualities in tact while adding a marching beat underneath it.

LuckyMe is dropping tracks from now until January 6, 2016 (you can grab DJ Paypal’s “No One Else” right now), so keep it locked to their Advent page.
