Atlanta has been met with a lot of praise; only a handful of episodes in, and FX has already renewed Donald Glover's new series for a second season. Strong writing, stellar music supervision, and beautiful directorial work by Hiro Murai, who's worked alongside Glover, Flying Lotus, Earl Sweatshirt, and more, have helped make Atlanta one of the best shows on TV right now.
Tonight, Glover will be taking Murai's place as director and make his directorial debut for episode six of Atlanta in addition to serving as actor and writer for the show.
"I love [tonight's episode] of Atlanta," Murai tweeted earlier today. "Donald kills his directorial debut." According to IMDB, Glover also directed episode seven. Janicza Bravo, the filmmaker behind the Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning short film Gregory Goes Boom, will direct an episode as well.
On last week's episode, musician and actor Austin Crute stole almost every scene as "Black Justin Bieber," further adding to the show's fine balance of witty commentary and dark humor.
Episode six of Atlanta will air tonight on FX at 10pm EST. Listen to our Atlanta Spotify playlist here.
