Have you ever wanted to see Action Bronson beat up a pimp, shoot a crooked cop, and body slam an unsuspecting group of poker players? Well, director Rik Cordero‘s video for “The Symbol” packs the laughs, the looks, and the hookers, an ode to 70s blaxploitation films well-fitted for Action’s outlandishly illustrative lyrics and the Alchemist‘s grease bucket guitar loop, a sample evoking the sound that defined the video’s inspiration. While “The Symbol” never makes you say “wow, I have no idea how they did that,” it is a refreshing reminder that creativity and fun need not require big budgets or buzzed about gimmicks.
