Rejjie Snow Teams With Kaytranada and Aminé for "Egyptian Luvr"

Hear the slick first single from Snow's official debut album, 'Dear Annie.'

Rejjie Snow has been something of a sleeping giant in hip-hop for years now. Armed with a nimble flow, an ear for lush, atmospheric beats, and strong projects like 2017's The Moon & You, it was only a matter of time until the Dublin MC became too big to ignore. Snow is certainly making a case for 2018 being his year with the first single off his debut LP, Dear Annie, a shimmering bop produced by Kaytranada and featuring Aminé titled "Egyptian Luvr."

The two-stepping bass line and iridescent synths are vintage Kaytranada, and both MCs find a comfortable pocket over the crisp percussion. Aminé's conversational, animated flow is a perfect foil to Snow's commanding baritone, which bounces off the kick drum. The U.K. rapper previously teamed with Kaytra on 2015's "Blakkst Skn," a powerful and infectious track about interracial relationships.

Snow premiered "Egyptian Luvr" with The Fader, and told them the track is about reflecting on the end of your life. "The song is about your last moments," he explains. "Tomorrow isn’t promised and we learn this the hard way. In this song, I was in my last moments [of a relationship], telling my girl how much I love her, and thank you for this journey we rode. My album has lots of different feelings: I wanted it to feel like you’re slowing dying and losing your mind throughout.”

"Egyptian Luvr" sounds incredibly inspired and is a promising harbinger of things to come. Known in part for his haunting, surreal videos, the visuals for the new single are comprised of many still images running together, similar to his striking imagery for 2015's "I Will Still Keep U."
