Crisp piano chords pave the way for D.Graves on "Black Clouds," the latest single from the rising Chicago rapper. It's a more upbeat, kinetic cut than some of his previous work, and features some of his best bars to date. The Nas influence is strong on this one, as D.Graves borrows an iconic line from "The World is Yours" for his chorus. Lo K's additional vocals are breezy, cheerful perfection, providing a message of hope that D.Graves said is central to the song's theme.
"We all go through our share of troubles and tribulations," he said, "whether it's losing a loved one or financial issues, single parent households, divorce... Most of us have been through something that was tough, but looking back on it probably made you stronger & pushed you to be a better person. Sometimes we have to appreciate the dark times and learn to love & grow from them."
