When you listen to the lush electronic/R&B vibes of New Zealand’s Leisure, you might picture the music coming from a bunch of dudes draped in cashmere sweaters, holed up in a scenic cabin with the scent of incense wafting through the air. Judging from a couple behind-the-scenes videos for their new collaboration with GoldLink, that actually seems to be pretty accurate (sans cashmere).
“When we’re in the song creation process everything is centered around a laid back living environment – a collectively relaxed feel but a strong focus,” they said in an Instagram post. “In the first week of January we flipped the rooms of a west coast holiday home into two studio setups, within a week we had 10 new ideas. One of them was our new track ‘Nobody.'”
That process appears to have paid off, as “Nobody” is the kind of mellow song you’ll want to relax to at the end of a long day. GoldLink seems to have caught the vibe as well, delivering smooth vocals that came out of a session during his first trip to New Zealand.
