Usually when artists are hesitant to reveal their identity we as fans are quick to attribute it to them having some kind of fear or anxiety of putting themselves out there for the world to see and judge. These artists put the focus entirely on the music and gives them the option to reveal themselves like The Weeknd and put a face to the stardom, or remain hidden like Daft Punk and leave fans in the whirlwind of curiosity that they've created through the music.
With thatshymn, shyness plays no part in his decision to conceal his identity. The 23-year-old singer/songwriter is very confident in who he is and is eager to show listeners who he is but has made a conscious decision to keep the focus on the music. The formula has been working and his single "iKnow" has spread like wildfire and even caught the ears of Beats1 host Zane Lowe. The young artist is one of the few representing South Norwalk, CT and grew up on predominately reggae and gospel music. He's been bouncing back and forth between New York and Los Angeles and in the process linked up with producer Chris McClenney to create his new single "Nothing Like Me." The record fits right in with the new wave of R&B and helps build a strong case for thatshymn potentially becoming a household name in the genre.
