Engineer Alex Tumay Speaks On Some Of His Favorite Projects in RBMA Lecture
Young Thug’s audio engineer takes you to the studio and details the intricacies of some of his most well known projects.

We all know what happens when Young Metro doesn't trust you, but what happens when Metro Boomindoes trust you?
No one can answer that question better than Alex Tumay. Since meeting Metro in 2012, the Queens native has recorded and mixed hits from artists ranging from Waka Flocka Flame and T.I. to Young Thug and 21 Savage. Today he's here with a Red Bull Music Academy lecture in which he speaks on his recent work and what's important in a mix. Speaking to us, he stated, "There's a lot more to mixing than just technically getting the sonics right. You have the ability to reinforce the emotional impact of the song through thoughtful mixing."
Tumay has been Thugger's personal and most trusted engineer since 2013. They met after Thug kicked his former engineer out of a studio session and Metro believed that Tumay could handle Thug and brought him in. In the four years since the two have met they've maintained a solid relationship both personally and sonically: "Every time we are in the same room it's just like old times. I know there's some studio footage from Jeffery coming out soon that shows that. We think about music the same way so the process is always smooth," Tumay states.
